My name is Kristine....one of the 'founding fathers' and the
sole proprietor of Altered States. I'm not getting into all
the who's, when's, what's, and why's of the whole 'history
since day one' of this studio....many many yrs back.....naw,
not all here, we will save that for another day and place
more appropriate on this site.....this is just a kind of HELLO
from me.....and an intro for the rest of my 'super great wonderful
never better as a group' staff!

Nik -- Tattoo Artist
Nik alone has almost 15yrs professional
tattooing experience....and our studio has been in Olympia
for close to 8years...so, do the math; but for now, as our

since November of 2002. At 21, She's the best female piercer
around. With a cheerful bedside manner, direct attitude, and
a gentle hand, she's quickly gained a reputation for making
a great experience out of one that is usually filled with
anxiety.

I am a tattoo apprentice here
at
ALTERED STATES. I am originally from Boulder, Colorado and
moved to Olympia in 2002 to attend Evergreen State College
where I am studying Fine Arts. Let's see.......ummm, I will
be graduating this winter with a BA in Art!! WoooHOOO! I LOVE
IT HERE!
So will YOU...hey, what's not to love?
I mean it...really!!! Tons of flash, great custom artists,
(including me...and I'm getting better all the time), alotta
room just to mill and look around and suck up the atmosphere,
cool staff, awesome owner, downtown. yeah. Cool shop. LUCKY
me! 'Cause I know they are picky about picking apprentices.
Yeah, I'm brown-nose'n a little, but it is all true.

Although
I am thankful to EACH and every person that has been part of
my staff and has spread their 'essence' in my shop, some of
them, I must say, were a bit ...ummm, well..... too full of
it...oh, umm, essence that is...or ...what was it...:o) well,
at any rate, I have been enlightened, given opportunities to
grow and look beyond my normal thinking box and have benefitted
from knowing EACH and every person that has worked here. Yeah,
I have had to strongly encourage leaving thru one way or another,
for a few slightly tainted seeds( and come on now boys and girls...backstabbing
and spreading murkey lies, name calling and placing blame on
othrs for your own mistakes and inadaquacies only makes YOU
look like a poo-head) but over all, people are people and each
new relationship and encounter brings about new insite and advancement.
( in otherwords...
Thanx to all past staff!!, for your time spent here in my studio,
rather I had to get you to leave on yer own accord or fire ya,
or it was jsut time for you to move on so we could all grow....
I DO appreciate you as the person you are....and whatever good
you brought to the shop....even if you turned into a rabid pitbull
that just swallowed a bunch of lemons cover in wasps after the
'fun' was over and you realized my loyalty lies in my shop
....and not devotion to your every whim and personal issue and
complaint. ) BUT HEY...life is an adventure, and we added to
the scenery for each other on the path.....and anyway YOUR POWERS
DO NOT WORK ONME, I HAVE A POCKET FULL OF CRIPTONITE AND YOU
CAN NOT HURT ME WITH YOUR EVIL EYE and FIRE BREATH YAMMERINGS!!
....Smile here people, some people just take life too seriously.......
Our shop is filled with character and many characters. Yeah,
there is a difference....and lucky us ( and you) we we've got
both!!
Not as in actors, although, I and some of them do enjoy a bit
of perfromance art from time to time, I mean as in spunk, life
and personality...as well as being 'of character'. Which needs
no explaination.....
I'm gonna keep the "ME" stuff on here pretty brief.
I am the basement of the shop, so to speak. It all rides on
me, but the staff is really the building, and the clients the
flow. Without them, and YOU, I would just be a basement.
ALTERED STATES
has so much to offer you in the
body modification arena
...so if that's what yer after and you live close enough to
get to us here in the North West,...you have HIT the jack pot!!!
I really like my staff.
Nice people. Good workers, great artists, like to be busy, trustorthy,
and really flow well together as a studio staff.
That is key.
When the geese dont fly in the "V" formation, someone
runs into a power pole. What I mean is...everyone has to work
together to get what everyone wants. They work together and
they work with YOU!!! Let's face it, as humans, we ALL want
the same thing...
TO BE HAPPY AND AVOID BAD THINGS!
At ALTERED STATES, we ALL do our best to provide and assist
and attain the state of HAPPY for you.
(well, at least while yer under our roof, it's not like we go
home with you and wash yer dishes and clean poopie cat litter
pans).
Most of MY work is "behind the scenes". And just to
set the facts straight...I DO NOT TATTOO. I AM a fully trained
full body piercer.
I used to pierce full time for many years, but after moving
to WA from further down the coast, I decided to give that up
and give my full attention to making this studio the best I
can make it.
Hey, things can always get and be better, get off me!, and we
all, including me, have room to grow....but I DO try, I DO care,
and I AM willing to hear suggestions, requests and pointers
from one and all...
(keep it nice though, don't make me cry).
I know my 'stuff', don't doubt me on that, and I never stop
learning, and am not afraid to change FOR THE BETTER! It's just
too demanding to pierce CORRECTLY and give each client the time
they deserve, and try to run a shop this size, so....I made
the choice to give it up for the time being and run the studio.
NO, I will not pierce you, and NO, I will not tattoo you ......I
get asked alot, but hey, why would you come to me...the staff
is way way way the way to go. Im just the business end, the
pr man, the promo chic, the ad twink, the shit kicker, the ax
grinder, the enforcer, the bad guy, the final say, the one who
holds the title of head duck in the chain of command, the in
the field staff recruiter, the star collector, the interior
designer, supply buyer, jack of all trades, scrub nurse, janitor,
and co-pilot, the 'keep on top of it all' gurl, and the head
hunter when need be.
Yeah, I have learned boss and bitch are one in the same.
( I hate computers, paper trails, paper piles, paperpaperpaper
waste, bills, taxes, junk mail, all time suckers...and i hate
wasted time, dead ends, 'all for nothings' and work in progress
that doesn't make progress just breathes my air and sucks my
bone marrow.....I hate empty promises, rude and empty ethics
and unloyal cohorts)
Hey, but I love having my shop and DO appreciate how lucky I
am compared to so many so I'll just shut the F -up and get on
with it here.....
Oh well...some one has to be the bad guy right>?
SO, anyway, I love Olympia ( well, alot of it but clicks and
sloths ...other than REAL sloths which I dearly love, suck!!),
and I love the ocean, and I love my bunny(s) and I love my family
(hi mom and dad) and I love my 'special to me people' and friends
and I love my practice and I love nature and I love life!!!!...well,
Im basically a happy, healthy, kind, compassionate, loyal ,
oddly creative, poster child for adhd and beeeee-ing TOO nice....hard
working kinda gal.....with a crazy chachafunloving side ...right
next to that business witch in me that OTHER people keep insisting
come around from time to time.
Yeah, being a Gemini helps that.....lets see, I get bored easy
but have lots of interests to bounce between and soooo many
tasks and venues right here in this very shop that I ALWAYS
have something to do and kep me interested and busy...I have
a love for peace and non-violence but will kick some ass if
I have to...well, verbally anyway.
Don't mess with me yo!
I do stick up for what's right!
Umm, yeah, I hate/love/hate/love to talk about me...so since
this isn't a me page or site, and I don't really matter all
that much on the flipside for the shops clients on a see me
face to face daily kinda 'roll with it' basis anyway, well,
I do but well, you know ....not "ON THE SURFACE"...I
will end this blah blahing about myself now.
Hey, feel free to e-mail me at the shops e-mail address, put
my name in the subject and website after it. But dont send shit
mail and don't bugg me for silly "wanna sell me some needles"
questions.
I may be wierd, but I AM professional, and my time is a precious
to me and those that love me, as yours is ( or should be) to
you and your peeps.
I DO know lots about lots of things ( personal advice is $50/hr
to strangers and $100 an hour to friends ...yeah you read it
right friends are more of a pain in the ass! *smirking* ) in
my business, and I don't tell you
I KNOW..... <UNLESS I KNOW>.
